Chipping | An Introduction to Chipping.

'Chip Shots' tend to be played when you have an obstical to go over, such as a Bunker, Sloping Ground, Rough Ground, Water Hazard etc... that enables you to play over such obstructions and land your ball in a landing area to be able to control your ball's bounce.

Typically a 'Chip Shot' is a short distance shot that is played through the air onto a Green. This type of shot is played using a Hand & Arm Swing and a lofted club, such as a Pitching Wedge or Sand Wedge. The loft of the clubhead will encourage the ball to fly approximately 80% of its required distance through the air and roll the remainder along the ground to the 'Target'. The length and pace of your Hand & Arm Swing should control how far, how high and the pace the ball travels at.

A 'Chipping Action' (Hand & Arm Swing) can be compared to the pendulum movement of a Grand Father Clock. The motion of your 'Hand & Arm Swing' should be as long in your Backswing as it is in the Follow-Through Swing with the ball being struck in the middle of your swing.

Within my 'Chipping Instruction' I have divided a Chip Shot into three simple 'Lesson Headings' for ease of explanation.

These headings are;

1. Helpful 'Tips' to work out your Chip Shot!
2. The 'Address & Posture Position'.
3. The Hand & Arm Swing.

"I recommend you work through each lesson in the order shown to help to create a repeatable Pre-Shot Routine!"
